1/2 garlic head, crushed
1/2 cup liver spread

Now your dish is ready to serve.

Bulalo con Nilaga

All I wanted is a lot of veggies and soup for dinner.
Seven bone beef boiled with peppercorn and onions for 2 hours or so (till the beef is tender enough to eat). For shorter boiling time you could use pressure cooker. Add veggies starting from carrots, potato, red bellpepper, petchay and napa cabagge. Season with fishsauce. If you want you could use salt instead of fishsauce (patis) and extra ground pepper.
After adding the napa cabbage to the dish make sure to remove the pot from the heat. That will avoid the veggies from over cooking. Also you can remove all the veggies from the pot and place on a separate bowl and serve as a side dish with fishsauce for dipping.

Pata in Hoisin Sauce

Another recipe of UT-Man from Abu Dhabi,
He is now my new idol in cooking. This is the second recipe I got from his website and so far both of the recipe turned out really good. I know this won't be the last...... Thank's Mr. Ut-Man!
I got interested in Braised Pork Leg with Hoisin Sauce recipe of Ut-Man. Seems to me like a chinese recipe and it looks so good that it's worth a try. After two hours of slow cooking on medium heat it's all worth it because it is what I expected. Really tasty and reminded me of Summer House Restaurant in Iloilo. I just can't remember what they call this menu.
Recipe of
Pata, pork leg
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp. hoisin sauce
2 tbsp. oyster sauce
1 head garlic, crushed
2-3 pcs. dried chili
1 pc. star anise
1 tbsp. cornstarch (I did not use cornstarch)
1 tsp. sugarsalt

Cooking direction:
Ask the butcher to saw cut the pork leg into large serving pieces. Wash thoroughly and remove all traces of blood. In a saucepan put cut pork leg, pour water to cover, bring to a boil and simmer for a minute. Now drain first boiled water and rinse off all scum. Return cut pork leg in the saucepan pour fresh water to cover, add in garlic, soy sauce, star anise and dried chili. Bring to a boil and simmer at low to medium heat for 1 hour, add more water as necessary. Add sugar, hoisin sauce and oyster sauce simmer for another 25-30 minutes or until the meat is tender and the pork skin is soft like gelatin and the liquid is reduced to about half. Thicken sauce with cornstarch diluted in 1/4 cup water. Season with salt to taste if required. Serve hot with a lot of rice.

Yang Chow Fried Rice

I made some changes with the ingredients. I used chinese sausage, ham and shrimp instead of bbq pork. The way I always order from Bamboo Restaurant in Brea, CA.
I done have any other veggies so I used some carrotts and bellpepper and it worked. Try using mixed veggies. I think it will be better. Cooking direction:
Start by frying eggs (beaten), cut cubes and set aside. Using the same wok pour a spoon of cooking oil. Add chinese sausage (cut cubes), ham (cut cubes), shrimps (peeled and cut halves), bellpepper and carrotts. When it starts to sizzle pour in 2 to 3 tblspn Char Siu Sauce and mix. Few minutes after add the cooked plain rice and keep mixing for at least 5 minutes. Last, add the cooked egg and mix again. Remove from heat and ready to serve.

Masagana Tuna

After looking at Jorp's blog (Flavors of Iloilo) I felt the urge of having tuna in can for dinner. Run out of Century Brand so I settled for this.

If you look closer you will notice two slices of pineapple and a slice of red bellpepper. Actually that is all the pineapple and bellpepper in one can.
Not bad or I was just hungry. Did not even bother cooking it. Just pour it straight on top of the rice and warmed for few minutes in the microwave and I have an instant dinner.

Happy Saint Paddy's Day!

Green Cookies
Green Sprinkle DonutsIrish Soda Bread

Today, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated by people of all backgrounds in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Although North America is home to the largest productions, St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated in other locations far from Ireland, including Japan, Singapore, and Russia.
In modern-day Ireland, St. Patrick's Day has traditionally been a religious occasion. In fact, up until the 1970s, Irish laws mandated that pubs be closed on March 17. Beginning in 1995, however, the Irish government began a national campaign to use St. Patrick's Day as an opportunity to drive tourism and showcase Ireland to the rest of the world. Last year, close to one million people took part in Ireland 's St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin, a multi-day celebration featuring parades, concerts, outdoor theater productions, and fireworks shows. House Salad

Dinner served....Garden Salad with French Fried Onion for extra flavor on Honey Mustard dressing.I went to see my doctor today for a check up. I don't want to discuss the details (I don't really know how to explain) but it got to do with acid. She gave me prescription for Prevasid 30 mg. I now have to watch (again) my diet.
I did my research on what food is high on acid and to my surprise almost everything. Mostly from the list are veggies, fruits, seasoning, etc. It was a very very long list and seems like meat is not included. Surprised! Nothing left for me to eat :(...
Lately I have been watching my diet. My cholesterol is not being nice. I have been eating lots of veggies and fruits.
Now I am so confused. What is left for me to eat?
My favorite salad dressing w/c is honey mustard is on the list too. I guess it got to do with the vinegar in the mixture.
Yes, it's not only from what I eat but also the way I eat. Proper diet is eating a small portion every 3 hours instead of a full meal 3 times a day.
I am still researching what is the best to avoid this weird feeling in my tummy.
Any opinion?

Balut Tagalog

Food find from O'Manila. They have it on a steamer on top of the counter next to the register. My hubby was drooling so I agreed to get him some not knowing that we could finish all four pcs. I am not a balut eater but I don't mind the yellow part. That only after my hubby opens it for me and separates the yellow part. It was hard for me taking this pic but for the sake of blogging.
